About

During team meetings, one of our rules is to remember that “together, we know a lot.”

At Seva Foundation, we enable technology adoption by our talented global partners that is focused on ending avoidable blindness. By introducing a common framework – that focuses on people even more than technology – and encouraging partners to share their stories, we hope to accelerate adoption of impactful technologies and avoid multiple partners making similar mistakes.

Our Patient-Centered Technology Adoption Framework includes 6 elements:

  1. Introduction: A clear description of the problem where technology may help along with proposed Key Performance Indicators for the team to monitor progress.
  2. Patient Journey: Eye care often requires multiple steps. We find that mapping a specific experience from awareness to final follow up helps us share an understanding of patient challenges and priorities to ensure we’re adopting the best technology.
  3. Staff Experience: Our clinical staff members – from ophthalmologists through nurses and other trained staff, to receptionists, security and housekeeping staff – connect the technology to our patients, providing critical input into what works well and what’s doomed to fail.
  4. Technology Features: Once we understand the people – our patients and relevant staff – we can define the technology features and compare available options. Sometimes we may need to build something new!
  5. Monitor: Even the best-prepared projects sometimes encounter obstacles. We want to position our partners to have access to best experts, whether that’s Seva staff, other partners who have experience in similar projects or expert consultants. Regular meetings will discuss projects and work to solve problems.
  6. Impact: Finally, when projects are complete, we’ll report our KPIs and show courage in sharing what we wish had gone better to offer insight to future partners.
